Can CBD help with headaches?

Tension headaches. Sinus headaches. Migraines. Most of us experience one or all three of these maladies on the regular. So one of the most common questions is, "Can CBD help with headaches?" To which we answer, "To varying degrees, yes!"

Keeping it real

There is a lot of hype in the CBD space—and while the science plays catch up to the anecdotal evidence we have gathered, we are here with some good news. For all of you (myself included) who suffer from tension headaches, we find some CBD topicals to be quite effective.

Tension headaches originate in the tightening of muscles through the shoulders, neck, and head. No surprise there. After a long day on the computer or performing repetitive motion tasks at work—or even at play—if you really tap in, you can sense a headache and the tight muscles causing it.

Enter CBD.

How CBD works on headaches

We have all heard how CBD helps relieve inflammation and pain, but how? Simply put, there are a lot of cannabinoid receptors in the skin, hair follicles, and sweat glands. So when you apply CBD topically, the cannabinoids (CBD is one of many cannabinoids—cannabis has hundreds) interact with these receptors in your skin and turn on your endocannabinoid system to get to work reducing inflammation and pain.

In many cases of headaches, CBD topicals are more effective at fighting headaches than edibles or tinctures. But many people use both with success. Significantly since CBD edibles and tinctures can help alleviate stress, a common cause of headaches.

Mender CBD headache roller

The Mender CBD Headache Roller is one of our best-sellers. Our formula contains organic full-spectrum single-source CBD (we like full-spectrum because it is cannabinoid-rich) and copaiba, which has cannabinoid β-caryophyllene. Unlike CBD, which interacts with your cannabinoid receptors, β-caryophyllene binds to your CB2 receptors to reduce inflammation and pain.

Our Pain Salve contains CBD and pepper, which also has β-caryophyllene. We take pride in formulating products that fully utilize the power of plants, many of which contain cannabinoids!

Bonus: Aromatherapy

We love feels, relief, and especially smells! Wintergreen, peppermint, basil, frankincense, and lavender create a bright scent profile for relaxed breathing. Roll on, inhale, relax, breathe out. Now you're feeling better.
