Where does CBG come from?
Known as the "mother of all cannabinoids," CBG (cannabigerol) is primarily found in young cannabis plants. Mother, because as the plant matures, CBGA enzymes break down the CBG to give birth to THCA, CBDA, and CBCA—THC, CBD, and CBC in its pre-decarbonization form.
But that isn't the only cool thing about CBG.

Science has a long way to go when studying peer-reviewed research on phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids from plants)—and CBG is no exception. That said, the preliminary findings on the therapeutic potential of CBG look promising, particularly for anxiety and stress.
Simone Tambaro and Marco Bortolato's paper entitled Cannabinoid-related agents in the treatment of anxiety disorders: current knowledge and future perspectives, the authors write that CBG is a "highly potent agonist for α2 adrenoceptor and a blocker of serotonin 5-HT1A receptor." What does this mean? This potent mother molecule could help us regulate our stress and fear responses, thus lowering our anxiety levels.
Anxiety as a way of life
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 31% of Americans will experience an anxiety disorder in their lifetime. Not surprising, but alarming nonetheless. And while no one remedy is a cure-all, we are here for it if CBG can offer us a slight reprieve from the chemical responses in our bodies that wear us out and keep us in fear mode.
